Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful, Executive Director

Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful (KNB), a KTB and KAB affiliate, has an immediate opening for Executive Director.  It is a part-time position with flexible hours, but requires occasional evenings and Saturdays as projects require.  The successful candidate should have basic computer and social media skills, as well as good organization, communication and marketing skills to administer environmental, educational and some fund-raising projects. Job Description

The Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful Executive Director is appointed by, and responsible to, the Board of Directors. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall administration and implementation of policies, procedures, and programs of Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful, in cooperation with the priorities set by the Board of Directors. The Executive Director is the chief administrator and is responsible for managing the daily operations of the organization, supervising volunteers and potential interns, and performing duties deemed incidental to the position as determined by the Board of Directors.


Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily operations of Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful, including planning, implementing, documenting and evaluating all KNB project activities; responding to mail, email and phone calls, and maintaining membership, and volunteer information.

  • Inventory and maintain all KNB equipment and property.

  • Prior to monthly Board of Director meetings, send minutes, financial statements and agendas to all board members. Attend monthly Board of Director meetings and Executive Board meetings.

  • Maintain Board documents, including By-Laws, Articles of Incorporation, agendas and minutes, board attendance and volunteer hour records, financial statements, contact information, etc.

  • Compile KNB activities into a monthly report for submission to the Board Chair prior to the monthly executive board meetings.

  • Solicit and raise funds in conjunction with the Board to supplement city funding for operating and project budgets. Apply for grants when available and relevant to KNB mission, in cooperation with KNB Board of Directors, City of Nacogdoches, Nacogdoches County, and other agencies, if required.

  • In cooperation with the Board Treasurer, maintain accurate financial records for the organization, including in-kind services or donations and cash/monetary donations.

  • Prepare and submit annual reports on programming such as Great American Clean-Up, Texas Trash Off, Texas Recycles Day, and Arbor Day Poster Contest to: Keep America Beautiful (including cost-benefit analysis and litter index report), Keep Texas Beautiful, City of Nacogdoches

  • Prepare and submit award applications for Keep America Beautiful, Governor’s Community Achievement Award, and others as applicable.

  • Maintain regular communication with KNB membership and the Nacogdoches city/county community in conjunction with the Board (newsletters, social media, advertisements/press releases, public service announcements, etc.)

  • Assist Executive Board with planning and execution of the annual planning meeting for the Board of Directors, including development of an annual budget and calendar of events.  

  • Maintain regular contact with Nacogdoches Chamber of Commerce, Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors’ Bureau, City Council/City Manager, and Nacogdoches County about KNB activities. Attend Chamber, City, County and other community meetings as appropriate.

  • Serve as a spokesperson for KNB to local, state, and national agencies and groups. Deliver presentations when appropriate to educate the community about KNB.

  • Attend state, regional and/or national conferences as determined by the Board.
