Recycling in
We encourage Nacogdoches citizens to recycle the items listed below in either of these two locations:
(1) behind the C. L. Simon Recreation Center (1112 North Street) OR (2) at the city landfill (4602 NW Stallings Dr.).
PLASTICS NEW! All No. 1 and No. 2 plastics, including milk jugs, water and soda bottles. Please rinse, drain and crush, if possible. Do not need to remove labels.
NEW! Electronics Recycling available in the small building at the City Recreation Center Location ONLY (Limited hours)
ELECTRONICS Computers (towers and laptops), monitors, printers, cables, mice, keyboards, DVD/VCR players, cameras, projectors, radios, telephones, cell phones, small household appliances (blenders, toasters, coffee makers, vacuum cleaners, etc.), flat screen TV's ONLY. No microwaves or old-style large TV's at this time, please. KNB partners with STS Recycling in Jacksonville to provide this opportunity. Since STS offers certification that information on computer hard drives is destroyed according to DOD standards, we must provide secure drop-off times. Hours are Thursdays 9 am - noon and the second Saturday of each month, also 9 am - noon.
Glass may be taken to the Habitat ReStore, 600 Powers Street in Nacogdoches. A non-profit company recycles glass products for re-sale, with profits benefitting Habitat for Humanity. The ReStore also accepts metals and new or gently used building materials and appliances to be resold or used in Habitat homes.
Ink Cartridges - take to Staples store for a rebate, Christ Episcopal School (fund-raiser), Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful (fund-raiser), or Cartridge World for a refund or refill.
Styrofoam Peanuts are accepted by the UPS Store (University Drive) or Wrap It Up Store (Main St, downtown).
Car Batteries may be taken to a battery retailer such as auto part stores or Wal-Mart.
Household Batteries may be recycled at Staples or Radio Shack.
Power Tool & Lawn Mower Batteries (Rechargeable) are accepted and recycled by Lowes.
Motor Oil Must be pure motor oil with no other types of oil combined. Drain the oil into a clean container and take to one of the used-oil locations listed below.

Trash pick-up service in the

To initialize service: When signing up for water service you will be given a phone number to call to request a trash container. The container will be delivered to your home or business.
For replacement containers: If your trash container is damaged or stolen, call the Public Works phone number above and city personnel will take a report and deliver a replacement container.

Anyone living inside the city limits can take one load a month to the landfill with a water bill. It is $12.80/truck load for additional dumping.
Unlimited dumping of brush and debris at no cost with a water bill.
The landfill does not accept batteries or paint as a liquid. You may mix paint with kitty litter, dirt, or sawdust and leave open to dry. Once it is dry it will be accepted.
Residents of Nacogdoches County can dump at the landfill for $25.50 with proof that you live in the county.
Appliances or tires may be dumped at the landfill for a fee.
